FAQ

TETHERED DRONES

The tether provides persistent power and data to the craft, allowing it to stay in the air for an indefinite period.

Hoverfly support provides comprehensive training for our product and the FAA requires pilots to have an up-to-date Part 107 license. Upcoming regulatory changes will allow public safety users to pilot without the need for a Part 107.

Hoverfly tethered drones can be unboxed, set up, and flown to 200 ft in less than 10 minutes. If already setup, then a Hoverfly can reach maximum altitude in less than two minutes.

DEFENSE DRONES

Yes, Hoverfly tethered drones can be mounted on ground vehicles and naval assets for enhanced ISR and persistent communications.

Human-Machine Integrated Formations – the combination of robotic combat technologies with human warfighters to augment combat effectiveness.

The Integrated Tactical Network – a system of systems that the U.S. Army uses to rapidly prototype and field equipment to modernize tactical communications.

Hoverfly tethered drones are jamming/spoofing proofed through GPS-denied capabilities and an advanced patented tether sensor technology. If jammed via RF, our drones will stay in the air and in operation for mission success. If jammed via GPS, then our Advanced Tether Sensor (ATS) will control craft positioning and maintain system operation.

  • Spectre equipped with dual radio payloads providing critical VHA role in an austere desert environment for army command and control.
  • Sentry with radio payload dispatched with dispersed formations for rapid on-demand communications.
  • Spectre with EO/IR and radio payload deployed on a moving robotic combat vehicle for targeting and network extension.
  • Sentry with EO/IR deployed on a Bradley Fighting Vehicle to augment traditional targeting methods.
  • Spectre equipped with Counter-UAS radars for electronic warfare against hostile drone technology.

SECURITY DRONES

Hoverfly tethered drones can reach an altitude of 200 ft from base station.

Hoverfly tethered drones can fly for as long as they receive power to the ground station. Our systems also have recommended service intervals for maintaining system integrity.

Because our drone’s data is secured within its tether, Hoverfly tethered drones are impenetrable to external hacking.

  • Spectre providing persistent perimeter security for military bases.
  • Sentry atop a roof in urban settings for rallies, protests, and infrastructure security.

PUBLIC SAFETY DRONES

Our drones operate with a small aerial footprint and are barely noticeable, especially at 200 ft.

Hoverfly tethered drones are equipped with several self-monitoring capabilities but the same general dangers that are present for other aerial platforms are present for Hoverfly: potential crashes, hazardous weather conditions, and user-error.

Hoverfly tethered drones are known for their intuitive and simple user interface. Our comprehensive training program can be completed in several days to equip operators with the knowledge necessary to pilot Hoverfly systems and successfully complete missions.

  • Spectre equipped with EO/IR camera and radio to provide critical network infrastructure and surveillance for disaster relief in impacted areas.
  • Sentry providing persistent surveillance during a heavily crowded concert.
  • Spectre providing an uninterrupted video feed for tactical barricades and long-duration law enforcement operations.

DAAS

DAAS provides Hoverfly tethered drones, expert pilots, and painless integration into already in-place security systems.

DAAS offers a cost-effective solution for those departments and institutions that wish to use Hoverfly tethered drones but can’t afford their own systems and pilots.

Our DAAS operators take on all the necessary liability to fly Hoverfly tethered drones for your event. As a DAAS customer, you do not need to have any license or waiver related to drone operation.

INTEGRATIONS

Our integration timeline depends on a multiplicity of factors. With our dedicated team of engineers, we can expedite most technologies to integrate onto our platform in a matter of weeks.

Hoverfly can assist in integrating advanced ISR payloads, persistent radio technologies, and a myriad of counter-UAS radars onto our tethered drone platform.

VHA

Variable Height Antennas exponentially improve communication by taking radio signals above the tree line and over rugged terrain. Elevation augments line-of-sight communications into a network bubble that covers a large swath of area.

With Hoverfly tethered drones, VHAs can be rapidly repositioned and deployed for improved survivability.

ISR

Hoverfly tethered drones are autonomous technologies and can land on their own. Pilots are needed for critical system oversight and control in the event of necessary intervention.

When equipped with an EO/IR payload, Hoverfly tethered drones offer persistent ISR even in the darkest of nights.

OTM

Hoverfly tethered drones are fielded for on-the-move operation at or below 10 mph.

Hoverfly tethered drones can be mounted on robotic combat vehicles, Bradley fighting vehicles, other tanks and ground vehicles, and a wide variety of naval vessels.
